Not directly Renner related, but can we take a moment to appreciate how fucking badass Benji looks in this shot? I’m a sucker for charcterizing, character developement and character surprises in movies. When there’s good characters, I forgive pretty much everything else going bad in a movie. This shot was a very pleasent character moment. While we see Benji as the clown who’s been barely through the field exam throughout the movie and he fucks up a few times, mostly in hand to hand, in the end he’s just as skilled as the rest of the team. And though I’m pretty sure he doesn’t like it too much he doesn’t hesitate a moment to kill and fight for the good thing with all means necessary. And he’s just as cold blooded as the rest of the team if necessary. While you doubt him when he guards Moreau, in thet scene when Brandt is about to be strangled to death, he gets his shit together. Very nice acting.
